BEIJING, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Mondo SpA, the world's leading developer and producer of synthetic surfaces, has been named an official supplier of the 2008 Olympic Games.

The Italy-based multinational signed a deal with the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympics (BOCOG) here on Friday, becoming the first supplier of sports facilities of the Games.

According to the deal, Mondo SpA will provide athletic track, basketball and handball courts to the 2008 Games.

Founded in 1948, Mondo specializes in sports, commercial and industrial flooring. It has been the official supplier of the Olympics since Montreal 1976.
