BEIJING, Jan. 7 -- Celebrated Chinese pianist Qin Chuan will give a solo performance of Mozart pieces at the Forbidden City Concert Hall to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birth in 2006.
The concert is scheduled for January 13 as the closing ceremony of the 2006 Year of Mozart.
Qin will be accompanied by the China Philharmonic Orchestra under celebrated conductor Shi Shucheng.
He said he wanted to carry the vitality of Mozart's works, dating back more than 200 years, to a modern audience.
Qin, 31, has earned gold medals at six international piano competitions and was the first artist in the history of the world-renowned Julliard School to earn both an artist's diploma and admittance to the doctoral program.
He will also perform at the Shanghai Oriental Art Center on January 14.
